Chapter Sixteen

Frank and Lottie left together. He looked over at her and asked, “Would you like to walk to Washington Square Park with me?”

“Yes, that would be nice.”

It was around 3:00 pm, and the sun was still shining. She looked at him and asked, “Are you working tonight? Shouldn’t you get some rest?”

“Not tonight.” He didn’t say, but last night’s stakeout had paid off and a raid was on the schedule for the next week. As they continued to walk, he asked, “Why Joseph?”

She glanced over at him. “Why? I don’t know. After all the drama with Rose, Joseph seemed so sweet. He didn’t play games. If he said he was going to be somewhere, then that’s where he would be.”

As they strolled, she thought about that first meeting.
